Never ending Busy dialog and DOM exception only in iPad. Works fine in laptop.

The following code is throwing a DOM exception and time out error only in the iPad resulting in a never ending "busy dialog". But the same works completely fine in the laptop browsers. What could be causing this issue? Another surprising behavior is that, this happens only for a particular type of transaction. Not for all the transactions executed using that specific oData service. The exception entry from the log file is:
